I am so happy to welcome you to The Village Therapy Place and to tell you a little bit about my training, experience and philosophy of treatment.

I received a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from New York University in 1990.  After several years of working in various adult settings I was drawn to the idea of helping children and impacting a life from early days.  I very quickly began to appreciate the degree to which pediatric OT is able to positively affect a child’s performance, emotional outlook and overall potential.

Working in early intervention, mainstream schools and special needs schools, I treated a wide range of motor, visual, cognitive, and sensory deficits.  I regularly attend relevant workshops in order to continually add to my clinical toolbox and keep my practical skills current

My extensive advanced training and 20 + years of experience allow me to look beyond a formal diagnosis to identify underlying weaknesses that are compromising function.

I am particularly experienced in working with pre-school and school-age children who have sensory challenges that impact their functional abilities.  I am certified in Handwriting Without Tears and have led training workshops of the HWT curriculum to preschool and grade school teachers. I have advanced certification in Therapeutic Listening and have found it to be a powerful intervention.

I strongly value the relationships I develop with the children I treat and work hard to ensure that in addition to gaining skills, they gain confidence and are excited to participate in therapy.

Working collaboratively with parents, teachers and other professionals involved in a child’s care is especially important to me as I am confident that a partnership of caregivers, educators, and therapists strongly enhances progress in all areasIT TAKES A VILLAGE!
